Michael A. Poynter is a systems specialist for Clancy Environmental Consultants, Inc. He works on site at the Philadelphia Water Department and is taking on the task of designing new web applications and overhauling those in existence. This includes planning, designing, developing, and implementing web applications that can read and organize data from external data sources, field sensors and human input in real time. Michael is working on turning readily available data into accessible and actionable information. His work will include the integration of data from multiple departments and sources that will be used to identify events of interest and concern in the water utility and in the community. He will be consulting with the IT department, engineers, managers, scientists and other departments within the water department to bring these interactive sites online.
Mr. Poynter has seven years of web development experience in the financial, telecommunications, marketing, and advertising fields. He was a technical lead at The Vanguard Group where he developed multi-tiered web applications using ASP.NET, ASP, VB.NET, JavaScript and MS Access, SQL Server, ActionScript, Flash, CSS, XML, and DHTML. He consulted with clients, client-teams and departments. He was a technical advisor to team managers. He mentored junior web application developers. He received awards such as the 2006 Apex Award for Readers Digest 401(k) Partnership website, the Peer Award for outstanding achievement for redesigning and reprogramming a client reservation system and The Vanguard Star Award for going "above and beyond" to support client needs.
