Shân Reynolds is a microbiologist at Clancy Environmental Consultants Inc. She has over 18 years experience in microbiology and has worked at laboratories in both the UK and USA.
In her career, Ms. Reynolds has participated in many projects to improve sensitivity and specificity for detecting Cryptosporidium sp. oocysts and Giardia sp. cysts from environmental waters. Additionally, she has assisted in developing new methods of detection for wastewaters, raw/finished waters, and clinical stool samples for protozoan parasites such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Isospora, Microsporidia, and other emerging protozoan pathogens.
Ms. Reynolds routinely performs analysis of environmental samples for protozoan parasites, heterotrophic bacteria, total coliforms, E. coli, total aerobic spores, and Enterococcus. She has experience in maintenance of tissue culture cell lines for infectivity assays and coliphage assays.
Ms. Reynolds has presented her research at many international conferences, participated in workshops, and provided instruction and training to laboratory analysts from around the world in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Methods 1622/1623.
