CEC supports the statistical design of monitoring and experiment plans. Using existing data or researcher knowledge of the distribution of data, CEC personnel develop relationships between variability and the differences that can be detected for various sample sizes. Where the data required are inadequate, CEC can help design plans for collecting additional data or can apply powerful modeling and resampling approaches to develop a sampling plan that is likely to resolve environmental issues with monitoring needs.
CEC determines the appropriate analyses and approaches that help clients to understand the processes underlying the data.
