Waterloo, Ontario. CEC assisted the city with development of monitoring and treatment strategies after the cryptosporidiosis outbreak in 1993.
Collingwood, Ontario. CEC conducted the field sampling and water analyses and assisted the utility with public communications issues during and after the cryptosporidiosis outbreak in Spring, 1996.
Alpine, WY. CEC completed a rapid response project for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA)-Cincinnati in July 1998. CEC was hired by USEPA to assist in the site investigation of the Alpine, WY waterborne disease outbreak of E. coli O157:H7. This included designing a sample collection strategy, sample collection and analysis, and assessment of the water source and treatment and distribution system. (PDF)
Walkerton, Ontario. CEC assisted the Public Utilities Commission in records review and data interpretation after the Walkerton E. coli 0157:H7 waterborne disease outbreak in May 2000. This waterborne outbreak had resulted in 2,300 cases of disease (1,346 confirmed) and seven deaths. (Report)
Washington County, NY. CEC assisted the operators of the Washington County Fair in records review and data interpretation after a waterborne disease outbreak in August—September 1999 resulted in exposure of 5,000 persons to E. coli 0157:H7, resulting in 781 cases of infection, 71 hospitalizations, 14 cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), and two deaths.
Botswana, Southern Africa. CEC conducted an investigation in April 2006 of the water systems, including the water treatment plants in the two major cities — Gaborone and Francistown — as well as supplies in small villages to assist in a retrospective investigation of a massive countrywide waterborne disease outbreak.
